Kilimanjaro Empowerment for Youth Development (KEYD)

Opening Brighter Futures, Together.

The Kilimanjaro Empowerment for Youth Development is a transformative initiative implemented by the NoraVera Foundation in collaboration with Afrikas Engleborn. The project is dedicated to supporting vulnerable and underserved youth, with a special focus on young women from challenging socio-economic backgrounds.

Through this program, we provide free, practical entrepreneurship and vocational training designed to equip participants with marketable skills that foster self-reliance and economic independence.

The training covers a wide range of hands-on skills, including beauty and cosmetology, digital literacy, electrical installation, photography, cake baking, and other income-generating activities. By emphasizing both theoretical knowledge and practical application, the program helps build confidence and creates sustainable opportunities for youth.

Beyond vocational skills, the initiative also promotes health and nutrition through the establishment and management of school-based vegetable gardens. These gardens supply nutritious vegetables to students, helping combat malnutrition while also teaching agricultural practices and environmental responsibility.

This holistic approach not only builds capacity but also breaks the cycle of poverty and marginalization—empowering young people to realize their full potential and become active contributors to the social and economic development of their communities, and the nation at large.
